"Stryker"13" X 8" Framed 18" X 15" Third in a series of local police dog paintings created to raise money for the Saskatchewan Law Enforcement Torch Run! It began two years ago with a painting of Cyr, the police dog shot in the line of duty back in 2001. The idea of painting this famous dog was suggested by Dean Leibrecht, a friend and city cop who was joining the K9 unit. I don't generally donate original works to charity (my kids like to eat) but it sounded like a great idea. Moneys raised by the Torch Run go to Special Olympics. The painting of Cyr titled "Sacrifice" sold for $4,200.00 at the Torch Run's annual auction. Stryker, another local police dog, will be retired in April of this year. "Stryker" the painting will be auctioned at the Torch Run's art auction on April 3oth. -Al Nelson Weitzel
