“The
challenges of today earn us the victories of tomorrow.”
Eagles are thought by most to be very efficient hunters.
The image of the magnificent eagle, snatching its prey from the
water like nothing could be easier, is the perfect metaphor of success.
In reality it is a better metaphor than most people realize
because, as anyone who has ever watched eagles fishing could tell you,
they lose far more fish than they catch.
They often have to compete with other eagles for their catch and
sometimes lose what they have caught to other predators.
Ask any successful person if this doesn’t sound like their
struggles for success. Like the eagle, every attempt we make renders us more
effective, and is the price we pay for improving our abilities. And when success is achieved it is often a wondrous thing to
behold.
